Abducted Baby Recovered After Kidnapper Posted Photos on Social Media

A baby abducted in Las Piñas seven months ago has finally been returned to its mother. This after a concerned citizen found a photo of the kidnapper and the baby on social media and reported it to the authorities. Baby Zianne Garcia is finally home.

Police arrested the kidnapper, Roselle Estrada-Garcia, in Victoria, Tarlac on Sunday after getting a tip from a concerned citizen. There, seven-month old Baby Zianne was found and returned to her mother, Riza Garcia (no relation to the kidnapper) and its twin sister.

The suspect admitted to abducting the baby in Las Pinas in September 2017. But, in her defense, Roselle Garcia said she only did so after the trauma of losing her own baby a month earlier. She said she feared that her husband would find out that their baby died and would leave her. To cover this up, she took Baby Zianne.

The tiny baby had just been born three weeks earlier when she was taken from her mother and twin sister. The twins were born premature and had to be placed in an incubator. But shortly after being discharged from the hospital, Zianne was abducted.

Riza Garcia had taken the twins for a check up at the Las Pinas District Hospital assisted by her 71-year old mother. There, Roselle Estrada-Garcia pretended to be an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), who told Riza she could help her place the twins under the government’s 4P’s program. This would take care of their expenses.

Riza agreed as she was taken by Garcia’s kindness. The latter even invited them for lunch at a fastfood restaurant. There, Roselle Estrada Garcia gave Riza P200 to buy lunch while she volunteered to carry Baby Zianne. But, after ordering their food, Roselle was nowhere to be found as welle as Baby Zianne.

Despite the kidnapper’s alibi, Riza Garcia is determined to file charges against her baby’s kidnapper – the non-bailable offense of kidnapping a minor.

The suspect is now detained at the Las Pinas Police Station.
