Ex-Lady Eagle Michelle Morente Transfers to DLSU Lady Spikers

Ateneo’s loss is La Salle’s gain. That’s how it is with the two rival schools. And that’s case again with volleyball player Michelle Morente. The former Ateneo Lady Eagle is now a DLSU Lady Spiker and is expected to suit up in green next season.

What a turn of events. Michelle Morente was one of the Lady Spikers’ headaches the past three UAAP volleyball seasons. In fact, Mitch was the top scorer for the Lady Eagles in UAAP Season 79. After the graduation of Alyssa Valdez, it was Morente who took up the vacuum The Phenom left behind.

But it was announced after Season 79 that Mitch Morente has left the Lady Eagles. Poor grades meant she had become ineligible to play. There were rumors that she would be joining the UP Lady Maroons this year. But photos on social media surprised everyone when she started training with the DLSU Lady Spikers.

This was confirmed in an Instagram post from Lyceum of the Philippines University spiker Cherilyn Sindayen, showing Morente with the La Salle team as they trained with the Lady Pirates.

If her transfer becomes official, Mitch will have to sit out Season 80. But she will be eligible to play with the Lady Spikers in Season 81 and would be filling the vacancy to be left by Kiana Dy, who will be playing her last season this year.
