CNN PH News Anchor Amelyn Veloso Dies of Liver Cancer After 3-Year Battle

Netizens were stunned of Amelyn Veloso’s death from cancer on Thursday, August 24. Many didn’t even know that the CNN Philippines anchor was suffering from cancer.

Amelyn Veloso was one of the pioneers of CNN Philippines. She anchored New Day, Newsroom, and Serbisyo All Access. Before her stint with CNN, Veloso worked with three other networks.

Veloso began her broadcasting career at IBC 13 in 1997 after which she moved to TV5. It was there where she anchored Aksyon Solusyon, a public service program she co-hosted with Senator Richard Gordon. Amelyn also anchored the news program Andar ng mga Balita at TV5 with Martin Andanar, who is now Presidential Communications Secretary.

Amelyn Veloso was also part of Sentro, Sapul sa Singko, Aksyon, and Balitaang Tapat.

In 2013, she anchored Solar Daybreak and Solar Headlines on Solar News, which eventually became CNN Philippines two years later.

Veloso had been battling cancer for three years. According to PEP, Amelyn had breast cancer few years ago and this transferred to her liver.
