The host country of Miss Universe 2017 is yet unknown. Although there were reports that Australia is eyeing to his the pageant (actually, Australia reportedly wants to host the NEXT TWO Miss Universe pageants), it seems the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has other plans.

According to Department of Tourism secretary Wanda Tulfo Teo, she has received an invitation from MUO to host the 66th Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2017) this November.

“Pinagaaralan pa namin iyan pero that’s true, they are asking us to host it again this year,” Teo confirmed to ABS CBN News on TV Patrol Thursday.

Teo said MUO was very pleased not only with the country’s hosting but with the buzz the event created overseas that it wants a followup.

The DOT secretary said they are still studying the proposal. And, if we eventually agree to host the event again, it should be sponsored by the private sector once more. The country will not spend a single centavo on the event just like the last time.

Likewise, Teo said they want more control over the event.
