‘Passport on Wheels’ Goes to Las Pinas & Manila: Latest Passport on Wheels Schedule

‘Passport on Wheels’ is the latest program of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) aimed at alleviating the backlog of Philippine passport applications. ‘Passport on Wheels’ aims to process around 2,500 application daily.

What area is ‘Passport on Wheels’ scheduled to visit? The DFA has not released a schedule yet for its four vans. But it has already gone to Las Pinas and the city of Manila this past week.

The program was launched in Las Pinas last Monday with no reported hitches. Las Pinas was chosen as its pilot service area in recognition of Senator Cynthia Villar’s sponsorship of the bill extending passport validity to 10 years. The DFA did not say how many passports were processed on its first day.

But its visit to Manila, at the city hall, was everything but smooth. According to Interaksyon, the relatively large crowd wanting to apply for passports, coupled with ‘poorly planned procedural snags’ led to pushing and shoving.

Hopefully, the next schedules of ‘Passport on Wheels’ will fare better.

Check back later. We will post the schedule of Passport on Wheels once we get hold of it.
