EPAL Mayor & Vice-Mayor Suspended for Putting Faces on Ambulance

For plastering their faces on the town’s ambulance, the mayor and vice-mayor of Asingan, Pangasinan are suspended for 1 year. The Ombudsman suspended the top two officials for being guilty of simple misconduct and of conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

Like many of our public officials, Mayor Heidee Chua and Vice Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. wanted to immortalize their faces on public projects so that, come election time, voters could easily recall their ‘accomplishments’. However, this did not pass the scrutiny of the Ombudsman who handed down the ruling earlier this year.

The suspension was effected by the DILG on January 20. Mayor Heidee Chua and Vice Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. left their offices but insisted they did nothing wrong.
