Honest NAIA Taxi Driver Gilbert Punzalan Returns $3,000 Left by OFW in Cab

Not all NAIA taxi drivers are crooks and scammers. On Easter Monday, overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Virgilio Legaspi got his $3000 back after it was returned by an honest NAIA taxi driver.

The words ‘honest’ and ‘taxi’driver’ together in one sentence is very rare these days. But there is no other adjective more appropriate for NAIA yellow taxi driver Gilbert Punzalan after he returned the big sum of money Legaspi left in his cab.

According to the Department of Transportation (DoTr), Virgilio Legaspi arrived from Damman, saudi Arabi on Monday and took a yellow taxi to a bus station in Sampaloc, Manila to go home to the province. Minutes later, he noticed that his money was missing.

Legaspi immediately took a taxi to the airport to report the incident and hoped to get his money back. Meanwhile, Gilbert Punzalan noticed the cash left by Legaspi in his car. He notified his superiors of the incident and headed back to the airport.

Talagang improved na,” the OFW said in gratitude after his money was returned, as quoted by GMA News.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal praised the honesty of Punzalan.

For his part, Punzalan has these words for his fellow taxi drivers: “Alam ko pong pinaghirapan ni sir ‘yang perang ‘yan.

Gilbert Punzalan has been an accredited NAIA taxi driver for the past six years.
