Husband of OFW Doubts Wife’s Suicide in Saudi, Believes Foul Play Angle

OFW Jenny Reyes allegedly committed suicide in Saudi Arabia last May 28. However, her husband thinks Jenny could not have committed suicide and foul play was involved in her death. John Paul Reyes also thinks Jenny was already dead when she fell.

According to John Paul, he was able to talk to Jenny four days before her reported suicide and she was fine. The OFW had only been in Saudi Arabia for two weeks and there was no reason for her to commit suicide. Likewise, John Paul said witnesses from adjacent apartments said there was foul smell coming from Jenny’s place prior to her ‘suicide’.

“Feeling po namin patay na po siya, hinulog po siya dun kasi sabi ng mga kalapit kwarto niya dun may naamoy na daw po sila sa labas ng bahay na may kakaiba daw po,” said John Paul when interviewed by GMA News.

Other witnesses said there was very little blood at the site of the OFW’s fall. Considering that Jenny Reyes fell from the seventh floor, blood would have splattered where she fell. However, this was not the case bolstering John Paul’s suspicion that his wife was already dead before she fell.

The foul play angle was also brought up by Susan Ople earlier. Ople, head of the Blas F. Ople Policy and Training Institute, sought the help of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in conducting an investigation into the mysterious death of Jenny Reyes. She also thinks Reyes’ employer should be blacklisted by the POEA after Reyes mysterious death.

The DFA assured the Reyes family that it is conducting its own investigation on the OFW’s death.
