Miss India is 20 years old and a medical student. She hopes to become a  cardiac surgeon and has plans of opening non-profitable hospitals in rural areas. Chhillar’s win broke the Miss World title drought of India which last won the crown 17 years ago.

During the Q&A portion of the Top 5, Miss India was asked what profession she thinks should get the highest salary. And in reply, she said that it should not just be a matter of salary or cash. It should be about respect and mothers should receive the most.

“I think a mother is of highest respect. I don’t think its just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest respect.”

Chhillar received the Miss World 2017 crown from last year’s winner, Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico.

Andrea Meza of Mexico placed first runner-up while Stephanie Hill of England was crowned second runner-up. Completing the Top 5 are Aurore Kichenin of France and Magline Jeruto of Kenya.
