Pinoys Await iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Philippines Release BUT…

Apple unveiled its much-awaited new iPhones – the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on Tuesday and it won’t be long before these reach the Philippines. So, when are the new Apple phones, particularly the iPhone X, pronounced as iPhone 10, due in the Philippines? Sooner than you think.

With much fanfare, Apple took the covers off its three new iPhone models including the much-awaited 10th anniversary edition, the iPhone X which should be pronounced as ‘iPhone 10’.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the top-of-the-line iPhone X represents a milestone for the company a decade after the first iPhone release.

“Ten years later it is only fitting that we are here in this place, on this day to reveal a product that will set the path for technology for the next decade,” Cook said, calling the iPhone X “the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone.”

The features of Apple’s latest flagship include:

No home button – swipe up from the bottom to unlock or to go home from an app or to multitask
‘Face ID’ that allows users to unlock the phone by looking at it
Qi and AirPower wireless charging that lets you charge multiple devices at once
‘Screen tap’ unlock
Edge to edge display with glass on both sides of the device
Super retina display using OLED technology – highest ever pixel density in an iPhone
Dual 12 megapixel cameras and dual-optical image stabilization
Tuned for augmented reality capabilities
Portrait lighting that uses machine learning to touch up photos
A11 bionic chips with six cores, can be 70 per cent faster than the previous A10 chip

Excellent specs, very beautiful phone from Apple once again. BUT it’s very expensive!!!!

The iPhone X will be selling for $999 which, according to latest foreign exchange figures, means it’s about P50,869.08! Quite a huge sum for many Filipinos.

As for the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, they’re a bit cheaper at $699 and $799, respectively. Features include the following:

Glass on both sides with an aluminium ring
New dual 12 megapixel cameras with portrait lighting that uses machine learning
5.5 and 4.7inch retina HD displays
Both available in 64GB and 256GB
Highest video quality capture ever in a smartphone
Hardware and software designed for augmented reality
Qi open wireless charging
A11 microchip with four cores, can be 70 per cent faster than the previous A10 chip

Release of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus starts next week, September 22. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the iPhone X will start late in October with shipping starting early November.

No official word yet from Apple Philippines when the units will be available locally but I’m sure your favorite online store and Greenhills suki will have them in no time, at a premium price of course.

Despite its hefty price tag, especially the iPhone X’s which is more than enough to buy you an excellent laptop or a down payment for a car, many Filipinos will still buy the new iPhones.
