KZ Tandingan Sings ‘Anak’ But Eliminated in Breakout Round of Singer 2018

It was another gutsy effort of KZ Tandingan in Singer 2018. Singing ‘Anak’ in both Tagalog and Mandarin versions, KZ Tandingan was impressive as usual. However, the bad new is she didn’t make it in the Breakout Round and was eliminated.

New that KZ would be singing Freddie Aguilar’s ‘Anak’ for a spot in the finals buoyed the hopes of her Pinoy fans that KZ Tandingan would make it in the Breaout Round. The Filipino singer was competing against other eliminated contestants for a wildcard entry into the final round.

Why did KZ Tandingan sing ‘Anak’? Asked why she chose to sing the Freddie Aguilar classic, this was KZ’s reply:

“Kasi aside from it’s one of the most beautiful OPM ever written, sobrang sikat din kasi siya sa China so kung kakantahin ko man siya lalo nilang maiintindihan kasi alam nila ang kanta,” she said.

“And alam mo ‘yun nakaka-proud na may OPM song na sobrang sikat sa ibang bansa na kung hindi nila trinanslate, hindi nila maiintindihan di ba? Kumbaga nagkaroon ng connection ang ibang lahi sa kanta ng mga Pinoy,” KZ added.

Her rendition was impeccable, as always. But, maybe, the Chinese audience wasn’t as impressed by her style anymore. Not like when she first performed as the new entry some weeks back. Nevertheless, we are still proud of you, KZ. Pinoys are very proud of your accomplishment!
