Laguna Resort Zipline Breaks Killing Off-Duty Police Officer Who Fell into Lake

A night of fun ended in tragedy at the Laresio Resort Lakeside Resort & Spa in Los Banos, Laguna. A police officer died after the resort’s zipline broke sending the cop into the lake below and drowned on Monday night.

The fatality has been identified as Police Officer 1 Andrew Tamayo, a cop assigned in Los Banos. Tamayo was at Laresio Resort with his girlfriend when he decided to try the zipline that crosses over Tadlac Lake. But after zipping down about 10 to 20 meters, the zipline snapped and the victim fell into the water.

According to Los Baños police chief Supt. Arvin Avelino, the victim was wearing a helmet and life vest on the zipline but still perished from his injuries suffered in the fall. Initial investigation showed the victim died of drowning.
