The now viral story was shared on Facebook by Ahyan Yerro, the store supervisor at the Nike store in SM Megamall. According to Yerro, they were surprised to see the foreigner walking into their store with a street kid in tow. He said he was looking for a pair of shoes for the barefoot young boy.

“Nakakabilib yung foreigner na to.

Kaya sinama nya na pumasok sa mall to buy him a pair of shoe (sic),” she continued.

Interviewed by ABS CBN News, Yerro said she and her staff gave them VIP treatment just like any other customer who walk into the store.

The foreigner, later identified by Yerro as Kris Carroll by his credit card, let the young sampaguita vendor choose what shoes he liked. The street kid eventually picked a pair of running shoes, which they got at 40% discount.

“Tuwang-tuwa kami para sa bata,” she said, adding that Carroll also bought food for the young boy and asked Yerro where they could buy clothes.

At this point, Yerro reminded the boy to take good care of his new shoes and thank Mr. Carroll.

Sagot nya, ‘Opo ate.’ Napangiti ako at natuwa para sa kanya,” she wrote on Facebook.
