Philippines’ Karen Ibasco is Miss Earth 2017 But Win is Greeted with Controversy

The Philippines’ Karen Ibasco is the new Miss Earth 2017. Last year’s winner, Katherine Espin, crowned the new Miss Earth at the culmination of a glittering ceremony at MOA Arena just a few minutes ago. The result has become controversial, though.

Pageant fans have accused Miss Earth 2017 organizers of fraud after the Philippine contestant won the crown in a pageant held in the Philippines. Though she may have great stage presence and gave the best answer during the Q&A portion of the finals, bashers took note that Karen Ibasco was not that beautiful compared to the other finalists. This, many have labeled Miss Earth as a ‘cooking show’.

“Wtf is wrong with you Miss Earth ??⁉️ This is a beauty pageant first of all, if you want to proceed like this you should change the pageant’s name ! So many beautiful girls wasted on this show…So disappointing …” wrote one Instagram user.

“Colombia more stunning and deserve to win. but this pageant made by PH to PH and always for PH. lol pageant.” said another.

“From philippines with philippines to philipphines” wrote another disappointed pageant fan.

“digusting cheap filipino cooking show pageant,” was another comment.

You get the picture.

Karen Ibasco may have won the crown but the result is definitely controversial.
