Miss Universe 2017: Philippines Rachel Peters Bows Out After Top 10

It was a heartbreaking result for Rachel Peters and millions of Filipinos at Miss Universe 2017. After making the Top 10, Rachel ended her journey at Miss Universe 2017 after the evening gown competition.

Rachel Peters is one of the favorites for the Miss Universe crown this year. So, what happened? Why was she excluded from the Top 5 even after coming out with such a fabulous evening gown by Val Taguba? It all boils down to luck and the judges’ preferences.

Miss South Africa, Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, is the new Miss Universe. Nel Peters, who fought off a car-napping attempt weeks before the pageant, also fought off  strong challenges from Miss Colombia (first runner-up) and Miss Jamaica (second runner-up) for the title.

Miss Thailand was Asia’s last hope for the Miss Universe 2017 crown after making the Top 5 but bombed in the question and answer round.

For Rachel Peters, our congratulations. She did great! Filipinos all over the world are still proud of her. What’s important is she did her best.
