Miss Universe 2018 in China! Hangzhou to Host Miss U After Visit of MUO Honchos

It looks like China will host Miss Universe 2018! This after a viral report that Miss Universe Organization (MUO) bosses were seen meeting with Chinese officials and visiting the possible venue of Miss Universe 2018 in Hangzhou.

Photos have emerged showing Miss Universe organizers in Hangzhou, China. Led by MUO President Paula Shugart and MUO Vice President Shawn McLain, the group can be seen with officials of Hangzhou.

According to TPP News, the meeting cannot be described as exploratory talks as the top honchos of MUO are already present. It is more likely that the Miss Universe 2018 in Hangzhou, China is already a done deal and all we have to do is wait for the official announcement from MUO.

“In a series of photos, Miss Universe 2016 Philippine Producer and Host Committee Chairperson, architect Richelle Louise Singson – Michael chronicles her meetings with the officials of the Hangzhou Municipal Government together with the Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart and Shawn McClain which happened this month of March 2018. The LCS Group’s Vice Chair and the MUO Officials met with the Vice-Mayor of Hangzhou, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Hangzhou Municipal Government, and the Director of the Hangzhou Convention and Exhibition Industry Association to name a few officials they met in preparations for the Miss Universe Pageant,” wrote TPP News.

The presence of Richelle Louise Singson-Michael, daughter of Chavit Singson and LCS Group Vice Chairperson, is not clear however. It will be recalled that Chavit Singson and the LCS Group are the biggest backers of Miss Universe 2016 in the Philippines. They were also set to lead  the group to organize the 2017 pageant in the Philippines but President Duterte begged off due to the country’s other commitments.

“The meetings are not just exploratory for the MUO have brought with them their top honchos! McClain, who currently serves as the VP of Business Development and Marketing at the Miss Universe Organization, works to structure and secure host site, advertising and corporate sponsorship agreements for domestic and international broadcasts, in addition to revenue streams from endorsements, TV & digital distribution. So it is safe to say that having Hangzhou host the upcoming 2018 Miss Universe Pageant is already a closed-deal,” added TPP News.

With Miss Universe 2018 almost a ‘done deal’, what now are the chances of our Miss Universe Philippines 2018, Catriona Gray, in the pageant? What do you think are her chances given the current political climate and business relationship between the country and China?
