The award was announced by Rise, a wealth management platform for migrant workers in the United Arab Emirates. On its Facebook page, Rise congratulated Melanie Manasala and announced that the OFW will take home a P1 million retirement fund and a plane ticket to the Philippines.

Melanie Manansala bested 500 other nominees from all over UAE to win the award, according to Gulf News. She won because of her dedication to her work and her loyalty.

Melanie went to UAE to work as a nanny for a Lebanese family. She stayed with them for 12 years, according to Gulf News. Though she is now with a different employer, Melanie is still in close contact with her former employers.

“I’m so happy with the award, I almost can’t believe it! I already [have] savings for my retirement, which I believe is very important, and every nanny should do so too,” said Melanie Manansala as quoted by Gulf News.

“With this prize, my dream can come true to open a supermarket in my home country after my retirement as a nanny.”

Last year, the best nanny award went to OFW Lorina Bunio.
