One would think that this open letter would be a criticism of Nadine. After all, the negative publicity she has been besieged with, lately, have become popular fodder for her critics on social media. And, of course, we know who many of these critics are – fans of rival love teams who continually bash JaDine.

But this open letter to Nadine Lustre is different. It is actually as message of support for the young actress – a different perspective from the hundreds of attacks Nadine has been subjected to in recent weeks.

Dear Nadine,

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for being chosen as FHM’s Sexiest Woman in the Philippines. Naysayers may say otherwise, but you definitely deserved it. Being sexy should not be classified and limited to curvaceous bodies, tight asses, and cup D breasts. Although I am not a huge fan of the magazine’s gimmick of subjecting girls’ bodies for public scrutiny, I am glad that majority of those who voted did not limit their definition of sexy.
Second, regarding the ‘live-in’ issue, I would like to apologize for the hypocrisy that people who criticize you are showing. While co-habitation might not be the best option for couples, I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it. I actually think that it is a good way to get to know your partner before finally deciding to tie the knot. And of course, it saves up water and electricity. You are both of legal age and we are not in any position to dictate or impose how we want you to live your lives (this sounded very wrong).

Lastly, while you have millions of fans adoring you, especially minors, you do not have any responsibility to secure that they have a good future or that they choose the right path. It is their parents’ obligation, so sorry if people are putting you on a pedestal to become role models for their kids. Besides, I know you will agree when I say that celebrities are not the best people to look up to because in your industry, a lot of the people do drugs, chose their career over education, and some have attitude problems.

For the people who call you out on things that they are capable of doing, I hope they can say in confidence that their morality is intact. I hope they have not been involved in drugs, does not condone Extra Judicial killings, never cheated on exams, and never stole anything. Because if not, they don’t have any business to meddle with your affairs.

Thank you for being brave.

With love,
PRISM Admin.
