Oscars 2018: ‘Shape of Water’ Leads Academy Awards Winners (FULL LIST)

There were no surprises at this year’s Oscar Awards. Favorites / predictions took home their 2018 Academy Awards led by the Best Picture winner, ‘Shape of Water’. The Guillermo del Torro film led the nominations with 13 and won 4 Oscars, including Best Original Score, Best production Design and Best Director for Del Torro.

In the acting categories, previews winners from the SAG and Golden Globes were likewise victorious this Oscar night. Frances McDormand was named Best Actress for ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’, Gary Oldman won Best Actor for ‘The Darkest Hour’, Allison Janney took home the Best Supporting Actress award for “I, Tonya”, and Sam Rockwell was victorious for his role in ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’ taking home the Best Supporting Actor award.

Controversy is bubbling on social media, though, for the Oscar win of Kobe Bryant as Best Animated Short for ‘Dear Basketball’. With his history of sexual harassment, detractors are quick to point out that Kobe’s victory has no place at this year’s Academy awards with its #TimesUp atmosphere.

Oh, one pleasant surprise towards the end. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were again the presenters of the Best Film award after their huge blunder last year when they announced the wrong winner. Seems the Academy wants them to redeem themselves this year, and they did. No mistake this time.
