LOOK Passport Fixers Selling Appointment Slots Outside DFA Aseana Office

Despite denials from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), passport fixers are still doing business. In fact, fixers are selling passport appointment slots just outside their DFA Aseana office.

As the passport mess at the DFA continues, it was revealed by GMA’s Investigative Documentaries that there are passport appointment slots for sale. Several Facebook pages offer appointment slots for a fee ranging from P500 to as high as P5,000 each.

One of Investigative Diaries’ subject was able to get an appointment via this avenue because she needed a passport immediately. Her passport is already expiring soon and her family is planning a trip abroad in a few weeks. Having stalked the DFA online appointment site since December with no luck, the subject was desperate and tried buying an appointment slot online.

To her and Investigative Diaries’ surprise, her appointment slot was legit and she was able to renew her passport at the DFA Aseana Office.

But what was even more alarming is the proliferation of fixers selling appointment slots just outside the DFA gates along Macapagal Avenue. An Investigative Documentaries staff posed as a would-be buyer and contacted the fixer by phone. At the agreed meeting place outside the DFA, Investigative Diarieswas able to film the transaction via a hidden camera. The price? P2,000 per slot!

According to the fixer, the appointment slot is legit because he has a contact from inside the DFA consular offices itself!
