RFID Accepted at NLEX, TPLEX, SCTEX & Other Expressways in Unified Collection

A unified collection system will soon be implemented in ALL of the country’s expressways in Luzon. This means that toll collection between different expressways companies will be ‘interoperable’ and the RFID currently exclusive to SLEX customers will soon be accepted in all other Luzon expressways.

RFID will son be accepted in ALL Luzon expressways.

The unified collection system was recently announced by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after 13 expressway companies signed the Toll Collection Interoperability Agreement. Under the scheme all the different toll collection systems being implemented by each toll company will be interconnected and integrated.

According to the DOTr, the first phase of the implementation of the Toll Collection Interoperability Agreement will see the RFID accepted in all of Luzon’s expressways making it more seamless and convenient for motorists.

“Our expressways are managed by different companies. But they have always demonstrated that they are willing to work together and work with the government if that means giving motorists, their customers, a better travel experience,” said DOTr secretary Art Tugade as quoted by GMA News.

“Making our toll systems interoperable will definitely bring a new level of convenience to our motorists, especially during peak seasons.”

The second phase of the implementation will then see motorists getting just one ticket and pay only once regardless of his entry and exit points, according to DOTr.

This will be especially useful to motorists once the NLEX-SLEX connection is opened.
