RIP Tony Calvento: Veteran Journalist & Creator of ‘Calvento Files’ Dead

Veteran journalist Tony Calvento is dead. News of Calvento’s death spread through social media late Monday night and it was later confirmed by his son, Sonny.

“Papa, best known as Tony Calvento to friends and loved ones has joined Our Creator today, 9 October 2017,” wrote Sonny Calvento on Facebook. The cause of death has not been revealed.

“His remains will lie in state at Chapel 3, The Heritage Park, Taguig. Funeral service will be held on 10 October to 13 October at 3 pm onwards,” Sonny added.

Tony Calvento will be cremated on October 14, Saturday.

A veteran of print, radio, and television journalism, Calvento hosted ‘The Calvento Files’ on ABS CBN for three years on the late 90s, a program that was an offshoot of his column of the same name on the Philippine Star.

Recently, Tony Calvento was in the news after demanding an apology from Vice Ganda who made a joke about him on It’s Showtime. Calvento was also a vocal supporter of Vhong Navarro and the rape accusations against him.
