You can be arrested for dancing the macarena in Saudi Arabia. That’s what Saudi authorities did after a teenage boy who danced the macarena in the middle of the street was nabbed for ‘improper behavior’.

The unnamed 14-year old boy was filmed dancing the macarena at a traffic junction in Jeddah. The video was quickly shared by local netizens on social media and it got the attention of Saudi Arabian authorities who arrested and detained the boy. His identity was not revealed.

Is the macarena illegal in Saudi Arabia? Not exactly. According to Jeddah officials, the boy was questioned for ‘improper behavior’ and ‘disruption of traffic’.

According to The Guardian, authorities asked the boy’s father to sign a pledge vowing to protect his son and not to violate public morals.
