Taxi Driver Who Tried to Scam Haley Dasovich May Lose License: LTFRB

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will recommend that the taxi driver who attempted to scam vlogger Haley Dasovich lose his license. The taxi driver, identified as Frederick Cayanan, was caught on video asking Dasovich for a fixed rate of P500 to Makati after he picked her up at NAIA.

The video of the attempted taxi scam was uploaded by Haley Dasovich to her YouTube page and immediately went viral. As a result, it got the attention of the LTFRB who immediately summoned Cayanan to explain.

The taxi driver vowed never to commit the offense again, and apologized to Haley Dasovich. However, an apology should not be enough. Cayanan should suffer the consequences of his actions. Likewise, a promise never to commit the offense again should not be believed.

For sure, this was not the first time Cayanan did this to a passenger from NAIA, or any other destination for that matter. For what we can see in the video, he is not a newbie to the scam. On the contrary, he sounded like a hustler who has victimized other passengers before.

In video, Cayanan asked Haley Dasovich for a flat rate of P500 to Makati from NAIA despite the latter’s request the the taxi meter be used instead. But Cayanan demanded that Dasovich should pay for the two hours he ‘endured’ waiting for a passenger at the NAIA queue. In the end, Cayanan relented after Haley promised to give him a tip, which is probably the last tip he would receive if his license is cancelled soon.
