Accused Taytay Priest Arnel Lagarejos Posts Bail for Human Trafficking Case

Monsignor Arnel Lagarejos is now free on bail. The Taytay priest accused of soliciting sex with a 13-year old girl posted bail of P120,000 on Tuesday. Lagarejos is facing charges of human trafficking after his arrest on Friday.

Father Arnel Lagarejos was arrested in an entrapment operation following a complaint by the girl’s mother. The priest was caught after allegedly booking the 13-year old girl for sex and trying to check her into a motel. The 16-year old pimp who booked the girl was also arrested.

Lagarejos was detained at the Marikina Police Station since his arrest Friday. He refused to grant interviews to the media and left the station in a hurry which his head covered with a blue bandana. It is unknown where Lagarejos proceed following his temporary release.

The priest was the parish priest at the Saint John the Baptist Parish in Taytay, Rizal. He was also the president of the Cainta Cathoolic College. Following his arrest, Lagarejos was suspended by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Diocese of Antipolo in conducting a parallel investigation into the case.
