The Chinese man, only identified as Zhang, did not want to pay the entrance ticket of 130 RMB (about US$20.50 or PHP1064.00). So he and his friend climbed over the fence of the Youngor Zoo in Ningbo City, in East China’s Zhejiang Province into the tiger enclosure. But, as soon as he made his way in, several large Siberian Tigers walked near him. He tried to kick the tigers away but to no avail.

Graphic mobile phone video shows one tiger biting the tourist on the neck before dragging him under a tree. The video went viral on Chinese social media before it was taken down due to its graphic content.

Zoo personnel came to the man’s rescue and threw firecrackers into the enclosure to scare the tigers. But, by the time, they got to him, he was already badly injured. The tourist was later pronounced dead in the hospital.

According to news reports, one of the tigers was shot dead during the rescue.

Media reports said the two men’s wives and kids went into the zoo legally and paid the entrance fee but the men tried to save some money by climbing the fence. Unfortunately, one them paid for it with his life.
