#WalangPasok August 3: Class Suspensions Due to Heavy Rains, Flooding

Class suspensions have been announced in several areas today, August 3, 2017, due to heavy rains. #WalangPasok has been declared for the second straight day despite the absence of a tropical storm. However, it is habagat, or the southwest monsoon, causing the foul weather.

Classes have been suspended in the following areas and provinces. Several schools have also announced #walangpasok:

CAVITE City – all levels (public and private)
LAGUNA Province – all levels (public and private)

 

RIZAL Province:
Antipolo City – all levels (public and private)
Baras, Rizal – preschool to senior high school (public and private)
Binangonan, Rizal – preschool to senior high school (public and private)
Cainta – all levels (public and private)
Cardona, Rizal – all levels (public and private)
Jalajala, Rizal – all levels (public and private)
Pililia, Rizal – preschool to senior high school (public and private)
San Mateo, Rizal – preschool to senior high school (public and private)
Tanay – all levels (public and private)
Teresa, Rizal – preschool to senior high school (public and private)

 

University of the East, Manila and Caloocan branches (Kinder to Grade 12)
College of San Benildo-Rizal (All levels)

There is no tropical storm within the Philippine Area of responsibility (PAR). But a super typhoon just outside PAR is enhancing the southwest monsoon. Super Typhoon ‘Noru’ is not expected to enter PAR. It is forecast to move northwards in the direction of Japan and make landfall by the weekend.

According to PAGASA, heavy rain in parts of Metro Manila as well as the nearby provinces of Cavite, Rizal, Batangas and Bulacan are expected today.
