#WalangPasok Sept. 21 MAY be Declared a Holiday by Duterte Due to Rallies

September 21 may be declared a holiday by President Rodrigo Duterte. Sept 21 is the anniversary of Martial Law in the Philippines but that is not the reason for the holiday.

No classes in all levels and no work in government offices, that is the pending declaration from Malacanang after Duterte said he MAY declare Sept 21 a special holiday due to the disruption rallies will bring. A number of groups have called for rallies on that day in protest of the administration’s war on drugs, police abuses and human rights violations.

The rallyists also said the Duterte administration seems to be planning a nationwide martial law declaration.

“Walang trabaho ang gobyerno ‘yang araw na ‘yan at ang klase suspended. At lahat ng public places dito na gusto ninyong i-occupy, kunin ninyo,” Duterte said in an interview on the government TV channel Thursday night.

“This early, I am announcing that I am ordering a holiday para walang masaktan, walang ano kung may demonstration diyan, magkagulo.”

But nothing is official yet. Let’s wait for the Malacanang declaration.
