According to various news reports, the victim fell between two MRT carriages at around 2:30 PM Tuesday. This is based on the CCTV video of the Ayala MRT Station which is now being studied by the authorities in the course of their investigation. Foul play has not been ruled out.

The victim has been identified as Angeline Fernando of Pasay City.

According to Bandera Inquirer, Fernando fell between the second and third carriages of an MRT train about to leave the station. As a result, she was pinned down on the tracks and her arm was cut off.

The victim was immediately taken to the Makati Medical Center for treatment. Her condition as of this writing is still unknown.

Operations of the MRT was affected by the accident as service had to be stopped. Service was resumed at around 4:00 PM.

To our knowledge this is the first accident of its kind at the MRT, which has been plagued with breakdowns and shut downs for the past several years. Poor maintenance and corruption has been blamed for the MRT’s woes.
