Last week, BPI suffered an ‘internal data error’ that forced the bank to shut down its electronic banking system and ATM network. BPI clients reported unauthorized withdrawals from their accounts while other saw ‘unauthorized deposits’. Now, come BDO account holders are raising the same complaints.

BDO client JM Balingit complained that he lost P50,000 from his account over the weekend on June 10. Balingit said he checked his account over BDO online and was surprised that P50,000 had been withdrawn without his knowledge.

Bryant Lacson, another account holder, reported that someone has been withdrawing money from his BDO account although he didn’t mention how much.

Meanwhile, Jamon Martin said he lost P15,000 from his account via a BDO Debit Card.

Some BDO clients are getting worried, posting queries on the banks Facebook page about the reported incidents. However, there has been no reply to their inquiries as of yet.

For its part, the bank is encouraging affected account holders to address their issues through formal channels so that these will be properly investigated, at the same time assuring clients that all efforts are being exerted to protect its customers and their transactions.

UPDATE: BDO assured its customers that there is no cause for alarm amid some reports of compromised ATMs and unauthorized withdrawals. According to the bank’s statement issued Friday afternoon, ATMs are compromised every now and then thus suggesting that the reported issues the past week were isolated cases.
