After Winning an Oscar, Kobe Bryant Wins EMMY for ‘Dear Basketball’

Kobe Bryant has another golden trophy to go with his Oscar. On Wednesday, Kobe Bryant won a Sports Emmy for ‘Dear Basketball’ at the 2018 Sports Emmy Awards handed out in New York.

Kobe was executive producer in ‘Dear Basketball’, a 2017 animated short film based on his poem of the same title that describes his love for the game. Bryant wrote ‘Dear Basketball’ in 2015 for the Players’ Tribune announcing his retirement from professional basketball. It was turned into a short film with the skills of veteran Disney animator George Keane.

In March 2018, Bryant and Keane won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film at the 90th Academy Awards.

Kobe Bryant did not attend the 2018 Sports Emmy Awards. On his Instagram, he posted a photo of Molly Carter, who received the award in his behalf, holding the Emmy.
