Ex-Pres Noynoy Aquino, Abad, Arrive in Senate to Attend Dengvaxia Hearing

Former president Noynoy Aquino is ready to face the Dengvaxia hearing at the Senate. Noynoy arrived at the Senate several minutes ago along with former budget secretary Butch Abad and former executive secretary Paquito Ochoa.

“I hope that my appearing will promote a more sober discussion leading to the formulation of appropriate actions,” Aquino earlier told the media.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is is investigating the dengue vaccine anomaly that is currently gripping the nation. P3.5 billion was used to purchase the Dengvaxia vaccine from Sanofi who later admitted that it might bring serious complications for patients who have not had dengue prior to the vaccination.

The Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigations are already conducting their own investigations into the Dengvaxia scandal.

In earlier testimonies at the Senate, it was learned that the Office of the President through executive secretary Paquito Ochoa, authorized the release of the P3.5 billion for the purchase of the vaccines from Sanofi.

At least 830,000 public school students have been vaccinated with Dengvaxia in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Metro Manila, and Cebu.
