WATCH Fake Police Arrest That Turns Out to be Marriage Proposal Goes Viral

Video of marriage proposal involving a fake police arrest has racked up millions of views. The arrest may have been fake but the police officer was real, and this is why some netizens are asking if it was proper for the officer to be involved in such a stunt.

In the video, the police officer is seen trying to arrest a man, who then kneels down supposedly to be g for mercy. The policeman then pulls out the warrant of arrest and hands it over to the man’s fiancee. When she read it, it said, “Will you marry me?”

Based on the thousands of comments to the Facebook video, many found the stunt sweet. However, there were those who were angry as well. Amid the controversy over police involvement in killings and other misconduct, is it proper for the policeman to be ‘used’ in such a stunt?

Interviewed by GMA News, the police officer, PO2 Ronnie Beñosa Candelaria, said he finds nothing wrong with it. He was already off duty at the time and he just wanted to help a friend make the wedding proposal.

PNP chief, Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa agreed. He said no police protocol was violated by the stunt.

“Kung pre-arranged naman ‘yun, meron silang prearranged na usapan doon sa aarestuhin nila at ‘yun nakakatulong sa kanya, may na-violate ba pulis dun? Wala naman siguro,” said Bato.

The video has now been viewed almost 1.5 million times.
