FULL LIST 2018 Gawad Urian Nominees: Empoy, Alessandra Nominated for ‘Kita Kita’

The Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino has officially announced the nominees for the 2018 Gawad Urian, the most prestigious awards in Philippine film. This year’s Urian nominees are led by critically-acclaimed films Birdshot and Respeto. Larawan, though, was snubbed.

The box office hit Kita Kita did not make it in Urian’s Best Film category but it scored in several others. And that includes acting nominations for Empoy Marquez and Alessandra de Rossi.

Winning an Urian Award is an actor’s dream. This year, several ‘veteran’ actresses are nominated in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories, vying with newbies and indie film favorites. The list includes Gloria Diaz and Elizabeth Oropesa, as well as Gloria Sevilla for her supporting role in ‘Maestra’.

‘Larawan’ may have been snubbed in the Best Film category but it did manage to get nominations in several others.

Aside from ‘Birdshot’ (this year’s entry in the Oscar Best Foreign Language Film category) and ‘Respeto’, other films vying for the Best Picture Urian award are ‘Balangiga: Howling Wilderness’, ‘Bhoy Intsik’,’ ‘The Chanters’ and ‘Tu Pug Imatuy.’

The 2018 Gawad Urian awards night will be held on June 14 at the ABS-CBN tent at Vertis North in Quezon City.
