The Asian Games 2018 closed on Sunday night with a glittering closing ceremony. Aside the from the usual pageantry and march of athletes, the performances of K-Pop idol groups Super Junior and iKON made it even more special to the thousands in attendance.

Athletes from participating Asian nations marched together during the closing ceremony. Despite the rain, everybody was in a festive mood as the Asian Games 2018 drew to a successful close. Indonesia has proven to everyone that it can host an event of such magnitude, and now, it is aiming higher – the Olympic Games in 2032!

“I declare the 18th Asian Games closed,” said Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, president of the Olympic Council of Asia. “You did it! You made the energy of Asia come through… Jakarta has the capability to host any such major international event.”

Indeed, the hosting went on without a hitch. Credit must be given to the organizers and the thousands of volunteers who poured their hearts and minds to the 2018th Asian Games despite only being given three years of preparation.

Vietnam was originally chosen to host the Games. However, it eventually pulled out and Indonesia was chosen.

One of the highlights of the closing ceremony were the performances of K-Pop idols Super Junior and iKON. The two Korean boy bands drew loud cheers from the estimated 55,000 spectators and athletes inside the Gelora Bung Karno main stadium. And they did not disappoint.

With choreographed moves, Super Junior and iKON thrilled their fans no end. Super Junior performed Sorry, Sorry, Mr. Simple and Bonamana while iKON sang Love Scenario and Rhythm Ta.
