The Philippine basketball team is stranded in Dubai. After losing to Iran in Tehran, Gilas Pilipinas made its way home to prepare for its game against Qatar on Monday. However, its flight has been delayed for 12 hours already due to the bad weather in Manila because of Typhoon Ompong.

In photos posted online, Gilas Pilipinas players are seen stranded at the airport in Dubai. Their flight to Manila has been delayed and may even be in danger of cancellation due to Typhoon Ompong.

There is still no word if the Philippines vs Qatar game on Monday in the 2018 FIBA Asian qualifying will be rescheduled. If it doesn’t get rescheduled, Gilas Pilipinas may have problems. They may either be too tired from their flight or may not make it at all. Hopefully, the Philippine team’s flight to Manila will push through.

Gilas Pilipinas lost to powerhouse Iran on Thursday. The Filipinos kept pace with the Iranians until the fourth quarter. That was when Iran shifted to high gear and never looked back.

Christian Standhardinger led the Filipinos with 30 points. No other Gilas player finished with double digits. Hopefully, they’ll play better on Monday.
