Grace Poe Leads 2019 Senatorial Survey, Sara Duterte 6th in Early Poll

Pulse Asia has released a senatorial survey 1 year before the 2019 elections and it looks like re-electionists will prevail. Grace Poe leads the senatorial poll for 2019 with 10 other former senators / re-electionists making the Top 15. But among the neophytes is Inday Sara Duterte who placed 6th.

The Pulse Asia survey was done from March 23 to 28 with 1,200 respondents nationwide even before candidates have announced their intention to run for 2019 midterm elections. What this shows is that Filipino voters already have their own candidates in mind.

As we said earlier, re-electionists will dominate the results of the senatorial elections next year due to name recall and/or track record. It will be up for dozens of neophytes to battle it out for the 4 or 5 remaining slots. As such, unknowns or those who have little or no track record will have a hard time breaking the Magic 12 such as Freddie Aguilar or Jiggy Manicad, who have been listed a possible PDP Laban candidates.

Inday Sara Duterte for Senator:

Sara Duterte is a different case. As the daughter of the sitting president, and a strong political figure in her own right, Inday Sara will be a strong senatorial candidate as this early survey shows. But the young Duterte has said she has no plans to run. Maybe this survey will change her mind.

She may also be egged on by PDP Laban leaders as her ‘sure win’ would be a big boost to the party’s chances.

Imee Marcos for Senator:

The strong showing of Imee Marcos in the Pulse Asia poll is no surprise. Her name has been gathering steam for some time now, especially among Duterte followers. Though she has yet to announce her intention to run, we’re pretty sure she eventually will.

Erwin Tulfo, Bato dela Rosa for Senator:

Surprise, surprise! Though Dela Rosa has a strong following among Duterte followers, it is quite surprising to see his name this high in the poll. Higher even than Imee Marcos, Bam Aquino, Jinggoy Estrada and JV Ejercito!

  1. […] But in fourth spot is Inday Sara Duterte, the rumored ‘secret candidate’ of the Duterte administration. Inday Sara, however, has said in previous interviews that she prefers to stay in Davao City. But with the results of Pulse Asia’s survey, can she still say no?
