Is Miss Universe 2018 Still in the Philippines After Wanda Teo’s Resignation?

Will the Philippines still host the Miss Universe 2018? This is what’s on pageant aficionados’ minds after the resignation of Wanda Teo, secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT). Teo is in direct negotiations for Miss Universe 2018 and now that she’s out, how has this affected the negotiations?

Bad timing, that’s what it is. With the Philippines due to host the pageant this year (some reports say it’s a done deal but, in Teo’s words, in at 90%), the resignation of Wanda Teo will surely affect ongoing negotiations.

There is even a big event tonight at Okada Manila by the DOT and Miss Universe Organization (MUO). Sponsored by Front Row, it is a fashion event to be headlines by three past Miss Universe winners – 2015’s Pia Wurtzbach, 2016’s Iris Mittenaere and 2017’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.

Also in attendance will be Floyd Mayweather who arrived in the Philippines this morning, and participants in The World’s Strongest Men.

There are also rumors that it is at the event where the formal announcement will be made that the Philippines will host Miss Universe 2018!

So. what happens now? Let’s wait and see.
