ISIS Names Resorts World Attacker as Abul-Khayr al-Arkhabili, Insists Claim

ISIS continues to insist is was responsible for the attack at Resorts World Manila. In its latest statement, ISIS even identified the attacker and insisted he was one of its ‘lone wolf’ soldiers tasked to carry out the terror attack.

Resorts World gunman

Abul-Khayr al-Arkhabili, this is the name of the gunman according to ISIS as quoted by SITE Intelligence Group. In a statement, ISIS said Abul-Khayr al-Arkhabili killed and injured 100 Christians in the Resorts World Manila attack.

‘100 fatalities and injuries among Christians in an attack in Manila’

‘With God’s help, our brother Abul Khayr al-Arkhabili managed to hide with his machine gun among a group of Christians, who fight Islam, inside a Resorts World resort in Manila, Philippines, where he opened fire on them, killing and injuring about 100 of them, until he, eventually, died as a martyr.’

But Philippine authorities have dismissed this claim as mere propaganda. Robbery was the motive of the attack although Manila authorities have yet to establish the identity of the Caucasian-looking, English-speaking attacker.

Police, the military and security experts said the pattern of the attack was far from a terrorist act. The gunman did not kill anyone directly although he fired warning shots in the air to cause commotion and panic. All of those who died, with the exception of the gunman, succumbed to suffocation after getting trapped in the casino by a fire the attacker started.

Even a former FBI agent said the attack was a robbery.
