Jessie J Wins China’s ‘Singer 2018’, the First Non-Asian Winner (VIDEO)

It was really hers to lose from the start. Jessie J was declared the winner of ‘Singer 2018’ season 6. Jessie J bested all other contestants, including our very own KZ Tandingan, to be the first non-Asian winner of ‘Singer 2018’.

It was quite a feat for the British singer. Not only was Jessie J the first non-Asian winner, she was also the first singer to rank in the top three ALL THROUGHOUT the competition!

KZ Tandingan started very well in the competition by winning her first week. However, succeeding performances ranked low among the Chinese voters – all members of the audience who are tasked to rank every performance each week. KZ was eventually eliminated by mid-March.

By April 6, however, some of the eliminated singers, including KZ Tandingan, were given a wildcard for the Breakout Round. KZ sang the Chinese version of ‘Anak’ by Freddie Aguilar. However, she failed the cut after ranking 7th among eight contestants and was eliminated for good.

In the finale, Jessie J sang Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’.
