After a disappointing NBA Finals with the Cavaliers, LeBron James is packing his bags and heading to L.A. to try to give the Lakers another championship. His agency, Klutch Sports Group, announced the four-year deal James has made with the LA Lakers.

It is the longest LeBron has agreed to since his six-year agreement with the Miami Heat. All his other deals were three years or shorter. ESPN‘s Brian Windhorst reports, though, that James’ fourth year in Los Angeles is a player option.

The move west means LeBron is taking his game to the backyard of the Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Fierce professional rivals for the past several years, this means the James and Curry are bound to meet earlier in the NBA playoffs than in previous years.

Though he is leaving his hometown team, LeBron said Cleveland will always be home.

“Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons. This will always be home,” James wrote in an Instagram story photo.

He has previously said he intends to finish his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers so this means he will be coming back. As to when, that we don’t know yet.
