In a text message sent to Leni Robredo, Evasco advised the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairperson that she should stop attending all Cabinet meetings starting Monday, December 5.

“Gd afternoon Madam Vice President. Mayor Rody Duterte thru Bong Go asked me to relay to you his instruction for you to desist from attending all Cabinet mtngs starting This Monday Dec 5, 2 pm. Ty,” read the text message.

Pressed by the media to expound, Evasco said Duterte did not elaborate his reasons for firing Robredo from the Cabinet.

“Wala akong detalye, basta sinabi lang ni Presidente, irreconcilable differences. Tsaka alam naman ng Pilipinas, ng tao ano ang irreconcilable differences nila. Ang mga issue ngayon, si Presidente [nandito] at si VP, sa kabila naman parati,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

But it was Communications secretary Martin Andanar who provided the explanation. Robredo was expected to be a team player as a Cabinet member, said Andanar. But this was the contrary as recent events revealed.

Vice President has been very vocal, of late, about her opposition to the Marcos burial. She even attended rallies criticizing the Duterte administration, which she is a part of, for its decision to push for the late dictator’s burial at Libingan ng mga Bayani.
