LOOK: Newport Mall at Resorts World Manila Re-OPENED After Attack

The mall at Resorts World Manila has been reopened. Newport Mall is now open after the deadly attack at Resorts World Manila that claimed the lives of 38 people on June 2, 2017. The cinemas have been reopened as well.

Two weeks after gunman Jessie Carlos stormed into Resorts World Manila, the mall area of the complex has reopened for business. Newport Mall was relatively unaffected by the attack although it is adjacent to the casino. However, its management closed the mall for for a period of 7 days following the tragedy. This was extended for another week due to ‘renovations and improvements to the facilities’, according to its announcement on social media.

But while Newport Mall has reopened, the casino of Resorts World Manila remains closed until further notice.

Mall hours have changed slightly. Before the attack, Newport Mall was open until past midnight. But now, the mall is only open until 10PM.

Resorts World Manila has also replaced its security agency. And there are more security guards manning the entrances although they are not armed. Only those manning the perimeter of the facility are armed, this time with big, automatic weapons.

Security lapses are being blamed for the attack on Resorts World Manila.
