The scene of the two Manila street children sharing a meal was posted by Facebook users Geo and John Benedict Rigor. According to the couple, a boy was begging outside a fastfood restaurant in Manila where they ate and they decided to buy food for him instead of giving money. What they saw when they went out later touched their hearts.

“We had brunch at Jollibee (Retiro cor Mayon St.) today and my husband told me to buy another set of meal for a kid who asked him for alms.. and this is what we saw on our way out.”

The young boy, who must be around five or six years old only, was sharing his food with a younger kid, a girl, who is probably his sister. And the young boy was not merely sharing his food but feeding his younger sibling.

‘Faith in humanity restored’ said some of the comments to the photo, which has been shared almost 60,000 times on Facebook and, who knows, how many thousands more in other platforms, blogs and websites.

Yes, indeed. Faith in humanity restored for the good samaritans who continue to share their blessings no matter how small, and in whatever way they can, to the needy and less fortunate.

Faith in humanity restored for the young boy who, at his tender age, already knows the value of sharing and responsibility. His smile says it all – the happiness to have a meal and share it with his sister.

It is certain there are many more scenes like this all over the country, all over the world, that we don’t get to see on Facebook or other social media platforms. But, hopefully, we will see more of it to drown out all the negative, deplorable, and trivial things we see on social media these days.
