Manila Water Supply Interruption May 19 in Marikina, San Mateo & Rodriguez

Thousands of Manila Water customers will have NO WATER or LOW WATER PRESSURE this weekend. Manila Water is thus advising its customers to stock up on water for their use.

In an advisory posted on its website, Manila Water said it will undertake a transfer of water supply from from the East La Mesa Treatment Plant to the southeast main line on Saturday, May 19 starting at 10:00 PM. This needs to be done because of the low water lever at La Mesa Dam.

Due to the transfer of of water supply, Manila Water said around 26,000 of its customers in Marikina and Rodriguez and San Mateo, Rizal will experience low water pressure or no water at all. The affected barangays are as follows:

Barangay Parang in Marikina City
Barangay Burgos in Rodriguez, Rizal

Dulong Bayan 1
Dulong Bayan 2
Guitnangbayan 1
Guitnangbayan 2
Sta. Ana

The water level in La Mesa Dam has dropped to 72.06 meters on Thursday morning. This is well below the normal operating water level of 78 to 79 meters, according to a report on 24 Oras of GMA News. Although rain has started to fall, sometimes heavy in parts of Metro Manila, these have fallen far from where La Mesa Dam can catch it.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rainy season may come earlier this year. According to its prediction, regular rainfall may arrive by the end of May.
