After three days of water service interruption, Maynilad water supply is back to normal. According to Maynilad, the quality of water from Ipo Dam has greatly improved thus production has returned to normal levels.

In an advisory, Maynilad said it is ‘canceling the implementation of rotational water availability schedules’ today, Friday, August 17, ‘as turbidity in the raw water from Ipo Dam has decreased to manageable levels yesterday, August 16, 2018, at 11PM.’

“GOOD NEWS: We are canceling the implementation of rotational water availability schedules today, as turbidity in the raw water from Ipo Dam has decreased to manageable levels yesterday, August 16, 2018, at 11PM. Water production is back to normal, but please expect low pressure at the outset, given the expected high volume of withdrawals from our pipelines.”

It was on Tuesday, August 14, when Maynilad implemented an emergency water interruption due to its problem with water coming from Ipo Dam. Hundreds of thousands of its customers were affected and caught by surprise.

Angry messages to Maynilad flooded social media from customers who were not able to store. The next day, the water concessionaire implemented a limited rotational schedule.

Now that water supply is back, Maynilad still advises its customers to always have enough stored water just in case the same scenario occurs at Ipo dam this rainy season.

“Please still keep some stored water to ensure that you have buffer stock in case rains over Ipo Dam cause turbidity in the raw water to again increase, which will constrain us to again reduce water production.”
