The PNP said the two suspects were arrested at a checkpoint in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur after investigations of the CIDG revealed that the gunmen were on the run and were on board a Toyota Avanza on their way to Bicol.

After their arrest, the two suspects confessed their participation in the shooting of Mayor Bote.

“Yung isa doon nag-confess na na siya ang shooter. And even the other one, although hindi siya assisted by a counsel. Yung isa si Suarez. Si Gumatay admitted in front of a counsel,” said PNP chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde on Thursday.

Albayalde declined to name the alleged mastermind but told the media a manhunt is already underway.
