Meralco Spoils Standhardinger’s PBA Debut by Beating San Miguel 93-85

All eyes were Christian Standhardinger as he made is Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) debut for San Miguel Beer (SMB) Wednesday night. It was also SMB’s first game of the conference after winning the 2018 Philippine Cup several weeks back.

With Standhardinger, import Troy Gillenwater and MVP June Mar Fajardo in the lineup, SMB looked unbeatable. However, the Meralco Bolts showed them that they’re not. Meralco spoiled Standhardinger’s debut with a win over SMB 93-85.

San Miguel was obviously still rusty from the long break, and Meralco took advantage of this. With Chris Newsome and Baser Amer contributing 23 and 28 points, respectively, Meralco took its third win in four outings. The Bolts are now in joint second spot with Rain or Shine, just behind league-leading TNT.
