Michael Cinco’s ‘Butterfly Gown’ Steals the Limelight at Cannes Red Carpet

Aishwarya Rai slayed the red carpet again at Cannes 2018! And, just like last year, Aishwarya did it in a Michael Cinco dress. Intricately-designed and covered in Swarovski crystals, the ‘butterfly dress’ easily took the limelight at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet.

The butterfly dress reportedly took 3,000 hours to make and Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco initially intended it for a Swarovski exhibition. But the Bollywood superstar, once labeled as ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’ after winning the Miss World crown in 1994, made it her own.

“The gown was created to reflect the impalpable dream of a butterfly metamorphosis,” Michael Cinco told Harpers Bazaar about his stunning creation, which includes a 20-foot train that mimics “a butterfly emerging from it’s chrysalis.”

Last year, Aishwarya and Cinco also teamed up for a Cannes red carpet winner – the blue Cinderella-inspired creation that elicited oohs and ahhs in Cannes 2017.
