No Filipinos Hurt in Osaka, Japan Earthquake that Killed 3 & Injured Dozens

All Filipinos in the earthquake-hit area of Japan are safe and accounted for. No Pinoys were hurt despite the strong earthquake that struck Osaka, japan on monday morning.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka reported that all members of the Filipino community in the Kansai area, where the earthquake hit, are safe. This includes all personal of the consulate.

The earthquake struck at 7:58 AM local time. According to latest reports, three have been confirmed dead including an elderly man and a 9-year old school girl.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said originally put the quake’s magnitude at 5.9 but later raised it to 6.1.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has sent its message of condolence to the people of Japan. 

“We express our condolences to the Government of Japan over the loss of lives in this morning’s earthquake in the Kansai Region,” said the statement issued by DFA secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.

“We hope and pray that loss of lives and damage to property would be minimal.”
